| At only 80 km north of
Bangkok stands the 2nd capital city of the
Kingdom of Siam. Between 14th and 18th centuries
Ayuttaya was one of the most glorious and
flourishing city in the region. It was on
a circular shape island that king U-Thong
followed by its successors quickly built numbers
of Temples and Palaces. Many trades with foreign
countries took place in late 16th till the
end of 18th century, the fall of Ayuttaya
in front of the Burmese. Today about a hundred
historical sites are listed and restored.
The ancient city is now registered as a cultural
heritage of the UNESCO world heritage. |
